Opus 27
To commemorate my stepfather, Michael Mantel, reaching the ripe age of 60, I decided to take an otherworldly route, and write what could be described to be the finale of a Requiem Mass—specifically a Lux Aeterna, combining the celestial idioms of his Star Wars enthusiasm with that of his newfound spirituality and religious explorations, which he made in order to cope with a culmination of excruciating romantic catastrophes (an exploration I will inevitably find myself making in my similar trajectory).
